Common Salt is a performance around a table – a ‘show and tell’ – made by artists Sheila Ghelani and Sue Palmer that toured to museums, libraries and arts venues in London and South West UK during 2018.
It explores the colonial, geographical history of England and India from the first Enclosure Act and the start of the East India Company in the 1600s, to 21st century narratives of trade, race and culture. Find out more about Common Salt.
As part of the project, we commissioned artist and moving image maker Lucy Cash to make a ‘cine-poem’ creating a legacy for the work and the 2018 tour.
